The tree planting committee is proud to announce that they have sucessfully planted
198 shade tree on the easements throughout Hampton West, over the past twelve years.
Additionally, the 80 that were planted between 2003 and 2005 are species that are
native to Long Island, which means they require no pesticides or fertilizer. The neighborhood "Tree Angels"
are responsible for watering, especially during droughts. The committee believes that our group effort is responsilbile
for our high tree survival rate espically among newly planted street trees.
We thank the Southampton Town Board and Supervisor Heaney, and the for providing
this opportuinity for Hampton West Estates and the U.S. Coast Guard families. Special thanks to the Southampton
Highway Department staff for planting the trees while at times dodging raindrops and maneuvering huge root balls.
